Rationale
I chose the short story “Kaleidoscope” by Ray Bradbury as I enjoyed the story itself more than the others and really connected with the characters as they all had such distinct personalities that I felt would be a great challenge to portray.
I have experienced the benefits of sketching and drawing up storyboards before rendering my work which to my surprise made the process easier as I knew what I was drawing rather than mucking around on illustrator for hours before getting anywhere. I was able to turn my flat almost emotionless characters to so much more with just adding a bit more detail and playing around with different poses and angles.
I initially had the idea of creating a children’s book, but the story is quite dark I abandoned this idea quickly and decided to take the route of creating a comic. I really enjoy reading comic books and manga and have always wanted to create my own, so I have really enjoyed this paper, I have learned a lot.
